Studio Philosophy

Private lessons are given to individuals of all ages and abilities from 5 years through adults and can commence at any time during the calendar year. The typical teaching year follows the school year, and the studio calendar is based on this cycle. If you would like to begin a student who is younger than 5, please feel free to contact me to discuss. Lessons take place at my residence. The studio entrance is on the side of the house. There is a path that leads from the street  up to the entrance and is directly across the street from the house at 305 E. 125th Terrace. Please park on the street and come through the black fence which will be unlocked for students during lessons. If there is a student before you, please feel free to enter the studio, please remove your shoes, and have a seat on the couch in the waiting area.

Studio policies outline the types of lessons, tuition, how to handle missing lessons, and the overall structure of the semesters.  Commencement of lessons constitutes an acceptance of all studio policies.

Expectations

Students are expected to actively participate in piano, to practice daily in preparation for lessons and recitals, and to demonstrate a positive attitude and interest in learning to play. The repertoire for lessons is geared toward the interest of the student. I am happy to teach jazz, blues, and popular music in addition to the classics. Please let me know what your interests are so that we can work together to find the perfect musical fit for you!
